Week 5 Predictions
October 1st, 2009 by LvilleOrangeWe finally get some Big East match-ups and some early games. Again, all lines used are provided here:
Last Week: 5-2 Year to date: 26-3
ATS: 3-2 Year to date: 11-9
Thursday:
Colorado at West Virginia: Line WV -17;O/U 54.5. The Mountaineers have had a full bye week to stew on last year’s defeat at the hands of the Buffalos. This time the game is in Morgantown. Colorado is 1-2 on the year including a bad, bad, bad loss to Toledo. If WV cuts down on their turnovers they should destroy Colorado. Take WV to handle Colorado and another BCS win for the Big East – 41-21.
Friday:
Pittsburgh at Louisville: Line Pitt -6.5;O/U 53. Pittsburgh must regroup after squandering a 14 pt second half lead to NC St. Louisville hung tough for awhile with Utah before ultimately losing. Both coaches could use a win. Pitt’s secondary was torched and now faces the duo of Scott Long and Doug Beaumont who are 6th and 8th in the BE in receiving. The Cards need to somehow cash in on their red zone opportunities. Louisville is last in the BE in rushing allowed and faces the league’s best runner in Dion Lewis. I think Pitt will pound the ball and bounce back to take this one 27-14.
Saturday:
South Florida at Syracuse: Line USF -6.5;O/U 46. USF is coming off a program changing win at FSU. BJ Daniels was terrific in his starting debut, rushing for 126 yards and hitting on two big pass plays. The Bulls defense did the rest shutting down FSU after they pounded BYU the week previous. The Orange are riding in with their first 2 game win streak since 2006. Greg Paulus has improved with each passing week. Pick will come with tomorrow’s preview.
Cincinnati at Miami OH: Line Cincy -28.5;O/U 57. This two teams may be close in proximity, but they couldn’t be any further in football prowess. The Bearcats are in the Top 10 after impressive wins over Oregon St and Fresno St. The Redhawks are still looking for their first win for coach Mike Hayword. If Miami turns it over 5 times like they have the last two weeks, this game could be brutal. Cincy should be looking for another decent showing but may shut down Pike early to get ready for USF. Cincy wins 45-20.
