Cuse run over by Pitt

DC3 lone bright spot for Cuse
The Orange fought valiantly again this afternoon, but the results were the same as the Orangemen went down to the Pitt Panthers 37-10 on beautiful day in Pittsburgh.
The Cuse looked great early, as Delone Carter ran with abandon. However the familiar theme of not finishing off drives led to the Orange managing just a field goal. That lack of production really hurt SU. Once again, another terrible third down performance and a killer interception for a TD at the end of the half spelled doom and ended any chance of an upset.
The pick seemed to deflate Syracuse and relax Pitt. Dion Lewis was able to get his running game going and really it was one of the worst days for the defense as they seemed to give up chunks of yardage most of the afternoon.
Still the Orange could have made it interesting if they could have just covered a few punts. Three times Pitt fumbled punts only to have nary a Cuse player in the neighborhood.
Greg Paulus seemed to play much better than Ryan Nassib although the pass game went no where once Cody Catalina went down. Plus as the game progressed there was really no pass protection. It looked a lot like last season out there in many respects. I know this may be heard to take, but the lack of Mike Williams was really evident today. With no time to throw and no one open, it doesn’t matter who is behind center.
Now the road to a bowl game gets really steep as the Cuse must run the table. I think that will be a tall order given all the distractions. The offense, despite improvements on the running side, just has too many limitations to believe we can win out. The Cuse travels to Louisville next in what shapes up to be a battle to get out of the cellar. For these two teams something has to give, we shall see who can prevail.
